Authorities seek cause of blaze in Phillipsburg that left 2 apartment houses unlivable

The Phillipsburg Police Department, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety are investigating in search of a cause of a fire Monday evening that left attached apartment houses unlivable at 784-786 S. Main St., according to the town fire chief.
There was no immediate estimate of the cost of damage, Chief Rich Hay said in a news release. Both buildings are insured, Hay said, but he wasn’t certain if the tenants had renters policies.
A town firefighter was treated for a minor injury at St. Luke’s Hospital in town after 60 firefighters from five of the six town fire companies responded to the blaze about 7:20 p.m., Hay said. No residents were hurt, he added. ....

A fire that destroyed a boat docked in a Wildwood harbor Saturday morning seriously injured a 57-year-old man on board, authorities said.
Edward Tinsman, 57, of Wildwood was air-lifted from Otten’s Harbor to Jefferson University Hospital Burn Center in Philadelphia. He is currently in serious condition, according to Daniel M. Dunn, Deputy Fire Chief of the Wildwood City Fire Department.
Authorities still don’t know what caused the fire to break out on the 40-foot boat at 10:30 a.m. Videos shot by onlookers including Marty Bouchard showed flames completely engulfing the boat and sending a massive plume of dark smoke into the sky. ....
