James River Senior Center serves meals Monday through Friday at noon at Center I and 11:30 a.m. at Gardenette and James House, and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Streeter Senior Center in Streeter.
Meal cost: suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and older; $7.32 for those under 60. Reserve at least one day in advance by calling 252-2882.
Frozen meals are also available for people over 60 in Stutsman County.
The senior center board meets at 11 a.m. on the fourth Monday of every other month.

News that the Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota was suspending operations in anticipation of filing bankruptcy came as a shock to the James River Senior Citizens Center, which rents space from LSS in the Legacy Center in Jamestown.
We were not aware of it previously, said Tom Geffre, president of the board for the Senior Center. It came as a shock and surprise. ....

It all started with a call from a customer.
Cara Prescott, owner of Don s House of Flowers in Jamestown, fielded a call from a woman looking for a possible donation in early November.
She was trying to get gifts for people in the nursing home before Thanksgiving, Prescott said of the woman s request. It got me thinking, a year ago we did an Adopt a Mom for the nursing home for Mother s Day, so it got me thinking why don t we try it again for Christmas? ....
