Vaudeville returns to Jamestown | Plains Producer


Be ready for a laugh and be ready to be entertained as the Whyte Yarcowie Vaudeville Troupe steps back onto the boards in Jamestown on May 22 and 23.
‘It’s a Pleasure’ is the troupe’s new show, bringing some of their old favourites and sparkly new costumes to the stage to raise a laugh and some funds for the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary and South Australian Country Women’s Association.
Troupe leader Judy Lewis and her crew said after a short hiatus during the COVID-19 restrictions last year, they were happy to be back on stage, for their 18
th show in their 37-year history. ....

Joan Martin
Joan Charlotte Martin, 83, was called to her heavenly home on May 3rd, 2021 with her loving family by her side in Fargo, North Dakota.
Joan was born in Spiritwood, North Dakota, on November 3rd, 1937 to Gene and Edith (Long) Dresser. She was a creative and scholarly child. She played the violin and piano and graduated as valedictorian from Jamestown High School. Joan married the love of her life, Delton Martin, on June 13th, 1959 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, North Dakota. They settled in Spiritwood to raise their three sons.
Joan had a lifelong passion for helping others. She completed her BS in Nursing at Jamestown College, including a year-long residency at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. While employed at Jamestown Hospital, she continued her education and completed a social work degree. Following her employment with Jamestown Hospital, Joan became a child protection investigator for Stutsman County Social Services for the next t ....

Donna Lee Tompkins, 87, of Jamestown, ND died on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Ave Maria Village.
Donna was born January 21, 1934, in Jamestown, to Lawrence and Hannah (Westby) Stoehr. She was raised in the house that her dad built, educated in Jamestown, and graduated in 1952. She worked in medical records and as a receptionist/bookkeeper at Jamestown Hospital for four years, then part time until 1963. She met Gilford Tompkins, a young farmer from Pingree, at a dance in Eldridge; they dated for two years and married November 8, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown. They were blessed with five children and raised them on their farm near Pingree. Donna was gracious and kind, and always considered others before herself. She will be remembered for her good cooking, baking, and being a wonderful hostess for family, friends, neighbors and her high school reunion guests. Donna was an avid gardener, growing abundant vegetables for canning and meals. Her yard and flower g ....

News that the Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota was suspending operations in anticipation of filing bankruptcy came as a shock to the James River Senior Citizens Center, which rents space from LSS in the Legacy Center in Jamestown.
