ATLANTA - Responding to a backlog of court cases in Georgia that built up since the judicial state of emergency issued in 2020, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is making judges and courtroom staff eligible for COIVD-19 vaccines, effective Tuesday.

Kemp Adds Judges, Court Staff To List Eligible For COVID-19 Vaccination

As of Wednesday, the state of Georgia will have nine mass vaccination sites, the governor said in a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
Five new mass vaccination sites are expected to open Wednesday in Chatham, Ware, Washington, Bartow and Muscogee counties, GEMA Director James Stallings said.
Gov. Brian Kemp added judges and courthouse staff to the list of Georgians currently eligible, which includes anyone in a high-risk category such as cancer survivors, people with asthma and those considered obese.
“Any condition that may lead to a weakened immune system … please get vaccinated,” Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey said. ....

Savannah is getting drive-through COVID mass vaccination center

The Savannah area is getting its first drive-through COVID mass vaccination center later this month, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Wednesday.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency is partnering with Gulfstream to host the vaccination effort, which will begin March 17 and run Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing up to 1,100 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine per day on the Gulfstream campus to eligible members of the public.
Pre-registration for the vaccine is available online at myvaccinegeorgia.com.
That pre-registration holds a recipient s place in line. Complete details about the Gulfstream site and the opportunity to book appointments will be posted at myvaccinegeorgia.com early next week. ....

The four sites now open for mass vaccination against COVID-19 are in Atlanta, Habersham County, Macon and Albany. Appointments are mandatory and open to all Georgians in the Phase 1A-plus group. That includes people over age 65 and health care workers.
