County announces vaccination clinic Tuesday at JCC | News, Sports, Jobs

The Chautauqua County Health Department has COVID-19 Moderna vaccination appointments available at Jamestown Community College on Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. for those 18 years of age and older who live, study, work or do business in New York state. There will be walk-in availability from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. only.
Individuals must show identification and be available for second dose on May 18.

JAMESTOWN It was a crowded scene at Jamestown Community College on Friday for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic aimed at serving those over the age of 65.
The clinic, announced by the Chautauqua County Department of Health, filled within a matter of hours Thursday. However, it appears several arrived at the Jamestown campus without an appointment, causing some confusion early on.
A mass vaccination clinic also kicked off at the JCC Olean campus, where 3,500 Johnson & Johnson one-dose shots will be administered over several days. And on Monday, a vaccination site will once again open at the State University of New York at Fredonia ice rink for residents over 65, those with qualifying health conditions and for essential workers in phase 1b. ....

Chautauqua, Cattaraugus County Vaccine Numbers Trail State | News, Sports, Jobs

Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties are lagging behind New York state when it comes to vaccinations.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that 15.2% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In Chautauqua County, the number is 14.2% with 18,154 receiving the first dose and 9,502 receiving the second. Cattaraugus County numbers were lower with 9,402 or 12.2% receiving the first dose and 4,747 receiving the second.
“I’m confident that we will continue to see increases to our weekly allocation and in turn get even more shots in arms quickly and fairly, but it will take time,” Cuomo said in a statement. “The war isn’t won until every New Yorker has been vaccinated. I urge all qualifying New Yorkers to make an appointment and get the vaccine when their turn comes, and to continue to wear a mask and social distance even after being fully vaccinated.” ....
