The impact of a proposed average increase of 14.59% in the tariffs municipalities charge business and industries for electricity âon top of existing irrational and inflated municipal tariffsâ will be devastating, according to some of the biggest business chambers in the country.

CAPE TOWN - SOUTH African United Business Confederation (SAUBC) President George Sebulela, has announced the appointment of Jacki Mpondo-Hendricks as chief executive of the organisation.
Mpondo-Hendricks is the first black female president in 130 years at the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), and was among the Mail and Guardian’s top 50 most powerful and influential women in South Africa for 2020.
She was also nominated as a South African Women In Leadership Trailblazer Awards Finalist 2020, and has been shortlisted for the Gauteng Provincial Basadi Awards 2020 and the Presidential Marketing Advisory Council. ....

The World Logistics Passport (WLP), a major policy initiative established to increase trading opportunities between emerging markets, today announced India, Indonesia and South Africa as members. They join Colombia, Senegal, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Uruguay and the UAE in a club of trading nations sharing expertise to smooth trade flows around the world.

The WLP creates opportunities for business across Africa, Asia, Central and South America to improve existing trading routes, and develop new ones, through the world s first logistics loyalty programme for freight forwarders and traders, a statement said.
