Meals on Wheels in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area has been exceptionally busy during the COVID-19 pandemic. From their regular job of supplying meals to people unable to cook for themselves to finding needs throughout the community, the organization has been pounding the pavement.
“There has been an increase in numbers of individuals who are requesting assistance, but we are delivering fewer actual meals because we’re limiting them somewhat just due to eligibility requirements that are constantly changing,” said Executive Director Deb Pacos. “They may get one meal instead of two meals, or they may not get weekend meals, it depen ....

MAYVILLE The Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene is seeking input from county residents regarding ongoing efforts to combat addiction. A new community survey is gathering information that will guide planning for the future of services and supports for those struggling with the challenges of addiction.
The survey is an initiative of the Chautauqua Substance Abuse Response Partnership, a collaborative effort of prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction agencies working together to address addiction in Chautauqua County. This partnership, supported by a $1 million federal grant awarded to the Department of Mental Hygiene in 2019, is engaged in multiple efforts to strengthen and expand addiction services to county residents. ....
