Clemson loosens mask rule to allow bar goers to stand and drink


The main change allows bar and restaurant goers to eat and drink while standing.
The updated guidelines over COVID restrictions were approved in a 5-1 vote during a special called meeting Friday. 
COVID is the demon here. I think this is not the time to give the demon more latitude, said Councilmember Fran McGuire, who voted against the amendment. 
Police Chief Jorge Campos will share the new guidelines with bar and restaurant owners this afternoon. The mask mandate stays in place. Here is what it requires:
Masks must cover nose and mouth 
They must be worn when outdoors, including when standing in lines to get in businesses ....

Still-suffering Spartanburg restaurants, hotels eye better days ahead


Since early March, the coronavirus pandemic has prompted a number of temporary business closures, caused layoffs, and canceled events and tourism plans for many nationwide.
Spartanburg County has seen some restaurants and other stores close permanently because of the pandemic. Meanwhile, others are struggling to survive.
Eight months ago, Gov. Henry McMaster issued executive orders closing restaurants and many stores to stop the spread of the virus. No stay-at-home orders or mask mandates were issued but residents were encouraged to stay at home and health officials continued to urge residents to wear face coverings and practice social distancing guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ....
