Facebook apologises after Black Country faggots and peas row

FACEBOOK has issued an apology after a local history group was warned it faced axing from the social media platform for ongoing discussions about faggots and peas.
Admins of the Pensnett, Brierley Hill and Black Country Now and Then group on Facebook warned members they faced having their posts deleted and that the group itself could be shut down following repeated so-called breaches of the platform s community standards.
The word faggots raised alarm bells and prompted warnings from the California based tech company as the term is widely used in a derogative way about gay people in the US. ....

Facebook threatens ban of Black Country fans over 'homophobic' posts on local delicacy 'faggots'


Black Country residents have slammed woke Facebook rules after a local history group was threatened with a ban for discussing the local delicacy - faggots and peas.
Members of a popular community group on West Midlands heritage were left in disbelief after users were warned about posting offensive and homophobic content.
Faggots and peas is a traditional dish in the Black Country - but residents were told they were breaching community standards by using the word which can carry another hateful meaning.
Admin of the group Linda Beech, 64, from Bromley, Dudley, West Midlands, has now had to warn users to stop using the word faggot , which is sometimes used as a derogatory term for a gay person in the USA. ....

Rose Cook Monk, founder of the Duncan Edwards Foundation will be doing a live stream from St Francis church in memory of the Munich air crash on February 6
Among those was Duncan Edwards, from Dudley, who died from his injuries two weeks after the 1958 crash.
Rose Cook-Monk, the 51-year-old founder of the Duncan Edwards Foundation and Museum, is planning to mark the tragedy with a live stream from St Francis’ Church in Dudley, where his funeral was held and there is a stained glass window dedicated to his memory. ....
