Delhi govt think-tank gets 2,300 oxygen concentrators via donations

Tech-based solutions and contributions of several individuals saw Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), a think-tank of the Delhi government, deliver over 2,300 oxygen concentrators to several government hospitals here, a statement said.
The Dialogue and Development Commission has been coordinating with donors wanting to support the Delhi government s COVID-19 response amid the second wave of the pandemic, it said.
Following the appeal of Hon ble CM Arvind Kejriwal to all sections of the society to come forward and support Delhi government s efforts to fight coronavirus, several donors have come forward to give critical medical supplies to Delhi government hospitals, Jasmine Sha ....

SRINAGAR: Former J&K chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday claimed that seven district development council (DDC) members, including some Independents, from Budgam district of central Kashmir have offered to quit as they’re not being allowed to move out of the ‘safe houses’ provided by the Union territory administration even for touring their constituencies and visiting their families.
Tweeting a video, Mehbooba said: “Detaining DDC members from Budgam since seven months in the name of security defeats the purpose of their election. Held against their will, administration has also prevented them from touring their constituencies. They are so fed up that they have offered to resign (sic).” ....

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, yesterday, disclosed that no fewer than 73 roads that were abandoned in Niger Delta have been successfully completed.
He stated this when National Secretary of the Interim Caretaker Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpan James Akpanudoedehe visited him in Abuja.
Akpabio said the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) directed by President Muhammadu Buhari informed the completion of the road projects, maintaining that some contractors, who refused to go back to site, would eventually be compelled to do so.

“The contactors went back to site, because President Buhari instituted the forensic audit of the NDDC to reinforce accountability in governance. As at today, the ministry has submitted the second interim report of the forensic audit to the presidency in this regard. ....

• Akeredolu Urges Commission To Utilise Resources
The Interim Administrator of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Akwa Effiong, has expressed readiness to work together with critical stakeholders in the region to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He also declared that his administration would ensure speedy completion of all abandoned projects littered across the nine states that make up the commission.
Effiong said this last Thursday at the Ondo State Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure. He donated three waste management trucks and incinerators to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for environmental sanitation.
According to him, the NDDC top officials were in the state to inspect ongoing construction of the 132KVA transmission station situated at Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state. ....

A former militant leader, Ebikabowei Victor-Ben, popularly called ‘General’ Boyloaf has accused Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio and other federal appointees from the Niger Delta of playing politics with the region’s development.
He lamented that Akpabio was turning the ministry and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) into Akwa Ibom State Government House extension.
He stated this on Village Square Africa, a television programme, stressing that Akpabio and others were fighting one another over their 2023 political aspirations.
He, however, absolved the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dikio (rtd.) from complicity in the challenges facing the PAP. ....
