CHELSEA Voters in the First Branch Unified School District narrowly approved the annual budget by Australian ballot on Tuesday. The vote tally was 117-111.
Last year, the district’s two towns, Chelsea and Tunbridge, struggled to come up with an acceptable budget, finally approving spending for the merged school district last October, well into the school year, after defeating it twice.
The $6.85 million budget for the coming year is about $40,000 lower than the current year’s spending, and the residential education tax rate is due to rise by about 2.5 cents per $100 of assessed value in Tunbridge and a bit less than 3 cents per $100 in Chelsea. ....

Two in five people in Test Valley fully vaccinated against coronavirus

TWO in five people in Test Valley have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.
NHS data shows 39,828 people had received both jabs by May 16 - 39 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those to have received both jabs, 35,859 were aged 40 and over - 51 per cent of the age group.
It means 3,969 people aged between 16 and 39 have received both doses.
The NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage between different areas for residents who have received at least one dose.
Across Test Valley, 75 per cent of those aged 16 and over have received their first jab. ....
