WASHINGTON The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a confirmation hearing next week for Lina Khan, who has advocated the breakup of tech giants, on her nomination to the Federal Trade Commission, the panel said in a statement on Thursday.
Khan, who teaches at Columbia Law School, is highly respected by progressive antitrust thinkers, who have risen in prominence as they push for tougher antitrust laws or tougher enforcement of existing law.

Amazon to pay $61.7 million to settle charges it stole driver tips

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Amazon.com Inc agreed to pay more than $61.7 million to settle allegations it cheated Amazon Flex drivers out of nearly one-third of tips from customers for more than two years, the Federal Trade Commission said on Tuesday.
The money paid to the FTC will be used to compensate drivers, the agency said.
The FTC said Amazon in 2015 advertised that a program called Flex would pay drivers $18 to $25 an hour to make deliveries and that they would receive 100% of any tips. But in late 2016 Amazon “secretly reduced its own contribution to drivers’ pay,” according to the FTC complaint. ....

Parler asks U.S. court to order Amazon to restore service to social media app
Parler on Monday filed a lawsuit against the company, which Amazon.com Inc said has no merit. Matze said the company was considering suing other vendors but declined to say more.

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Parler, a social media outlet favored by some supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump, urged a court Wednesday to order Amazon.com Inc to put it back online.
Amazon had shut down Parler following the Jan. 6 riot by Trump supporters at the Capitol aimed at preventing Democrat Joe Biden from becoming president. Parler filed a lawsuit against Amazon on Jan. 11, accusing it of making an illegal decision to shut it down to benefit Twitter Inc ....
