Amarillo 4 @ Shreveport 5 (SO) - The Shreveport Mudbugs pulled off one of the most improbable comebacks of the season and clinched the South Division title in the process as they shocked the Amarillo Bulls 5-4 in a shootout. Trailing 4-2 with under two minutes remaining, Billy Feczko scored on the power play for his second of the night to bring Shreveport within one. Dawson Sciarrino lit the lamp just 30 seconds later to tie the game at four with his 11th of the year. Adam Kolcon scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Mudbugs the win and the division championship. Sean Bunting also scored in the win for Shreveport while Arseniy Sergeev stopped 33 shots in 65 minutes and all three shooters in the skills competition. The Nordiques defeated the Northeast Generals 4-2 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Friday night, the Generals won in overtime. “We wanted to win in regulation, that’s what we came here to do,” Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “The boys worked really hard and the Generals never quit. Hugo Haas, their MVP, never quit. He gives them a chance to win on any night.” Aidan Connolly paced Maine’s offense with a goal and two assists and Tyriq Outen made 26 saves for his 22nd win of the season, which is second in the entire NAHL. ....

The 20-year-old Maine Nordiques forward scored two goals during a 5-2 victory in a North American Hockey League East Division contest Saturday night. Seven of Owens’ team-leading 20 goals this season have come against the Hat Tricks. Associate head coach Matt Pinchevsly said the team doesn’t draw up plays for players who do well against a certain opponent, but they try to get that player or line more ice time. “We trust (Owens’) decisions on the ice and he’s really supportive with his linemates, they do a great job working with him out there,” Pinchevsky said. “It’s essentially about momentum or the pace of the game. There might be a situation, pace or decisions or what his line generates (for offense) might serve a better purpose in which we might get them back out there.” ....

The New Jersey Titans defeated the Nordiques 5-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest. Maine has lost four straight at home and five overall. With nine games left on the schedule including the next seven on the road the Nordiques (28-18-1, 57 points) have a six-point advantage over the Titans (22-16-7, 51 points) for second place in the East Division. ....

Those words describe former L/A Fighting Spirit (2016-17) and L/A Nordiques (2017-18) defenseman Patrick Romano, who died Saturday morning in a structure fire in Niagara Falls, New York. Romano, 24, of Toms River, New Jersey, was a student at nearby Niagara University, where he was studying sports management and was member of the school’s ACHA club hockey team. He also helped the school’s athletic department livestream sporting events. ....
