Fraud accusation preceded Mississippi pain cream scheme: Timeline


Long before a massive multimillion-dollar health care fraud involving high-priced pain creams and other medications unfolded, two of the scheme s central architects worked together at another company accused of fraud.
Wade Walters, Hope Thomley and others were named in a lawsuit filed by Pearl River County Hospital in November 2013 alleging Performance Accounts Receivable and Performance Capital Leasing, Walters, Thomley and other individuals and entities acted in concert to coerce the hospital to defraud Medicare and Medicaid.
Walters is listed as owners of both companies, which are now defunct.
The fraud perpetrated upon the hospital was primarily orchestrated by Walters through Thomley and (Walters ) agent Mike Boleware who, although being employed by the hospital as its chief executive officer, was also, upon information and belief, receiving compensation directly or indirectly from Walters, Thomley, and/or one of their companies, the lawsuit claimed. ....

UNITE Connecting UK Research with Community to Address Racial Equity

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 23, 2021) University of Kentucky administrators, faculty, staff and students engaged with a diverse panel of Kentucky community leaders to identify research priorities to address racial equity across the Commonwealth.
On April 15, a virtual event was hosted by UNited In True racial Equity (UNITE) UK’s newest research priority area (RPA), which aims to support research focused on racial disparities and inequity and recruit and retain racially diverse faculty, staff and students at UK.
“Facilitating these important conversations is just one of the ways UNITE is working to bridge the gap between UK and people of color when it comes to research,” said UK’s Assistant Vice President for Research in Diversity & Inclusion Danelle Stevens-Watkins, Ph.D., who leads the RPA. ....

A Grande Prairie film-maker’s passion for storytelling has resulted in two documentaries.
Mariah Braun, who also operates M3M Marketing, premiered one film “Life Without Diagnosis” Feb. 25, while a second “Able”, currently in production will be released next year.

“Making short documentaries, in particular, has kind of been my passion for the last two years,” Braun explained. “It is just seeing the human side of people. I find nowadays everything is so quick and happens so fast. Real stories take time to unfold — I get to tell those and I get to learn about different subject matters and things I never would have gotten a chance to learn unless I did these films.” ....
