Steelers add DE Abdullah Anderson to their 2021 offseason roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to add to their 2020 offseason roster by signing defensive end Abdullah Anderson.
Unlike some of the Steelers recent signings, Anderson has previously logged regular-season playing time in the NFL. Undrafted out of Bucknell in 2018, Anderson landed with the Chicago Bears and was a member of the practice squad his first season. Bouncing between the practice squad and the 53-man roster in 2019, Anderson appeared in six games where he had 1.0 sacks and four tackles on 106 defensive snaps. Signed back to the Bears’ practice squad to start the 2020 season, Anderson was released after Week 1, but with signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad a week later. Anderson was elevated from the practice squad and appeared in one game for Minnesota in 2020 where he played 10 defensive snaps but did not appear on the stat sheet. ....

Pittsburgh Steelers add a defensive lineman to their offseason roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to build the roster ahead of the 2021 NFL draft later this month. In their latest move, the Steelers have signed defensive end T.J. Carter.
Carter went undrafted in the 2020 NFL draft and was signed by the Arizona Cardinals. Unfortunately, when teams were forced to cut their rosters down to 80 players due to the COVID-19 pandemic instead of the typical 90 during training camp, Carter was released by Arizona. Carter also spent some time with the New Orleans Saints during training camp, but ultimately did not make the roster or practice squad. ....

The NFL announced the 2021 salary cap, so where do the Steelers stand?

The speculation of the NFL’s 2021 salary cap has been going on for months. On Wednesday, teams were finally informed of the $182.5 million cap for this coming season. Teams now have a week to make sure they are salary cap compliant for the start of the new league year at 4 PM on March 17.
So where do the Steelers currently stand with the 2021 salary cap? Just a few weeks ago, the Steelers were well above $182.5 million. But now, the Steelers are a little more than $6 million under the salary cap. How did they get there? First, the Steelers had almost $5 million in rollover from 2020. Next, between the retirements a Vance McDonald and Maurkice Pouncey, the restructures of Cameron Heyward and Derek Watt, and the new contract for Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers have moved around $41 million in the right direction. ....
