Dracula, created by Irish author Bram Stoker, is the prototype of all vampires and a favorite of filmmakers to this day. The first adaption came out 90 years ago.
Nosferatu (1921)
Back in 1921, when German director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau started shooting for Nosferatu, there was no such thing as a horror movie. Played by Max Schreck, the vampire Count Orlok was one of the scariest characters ever featured in a silent movie at the time. Actor Bela Lugosi was the first to portray Count Dracula on screen. The Hungarian-born actor impersonated the vampire from Transylvania more often than anyone else in different shows on Broadway. To honor the milestone anniversaries of some of cinema’s scariest legends, Universal Pictures launched the Universal Monsters: Out of the Shadows contest, which will be hosted on the Tongal content creation platform.
The art initiative calls for U.S. residents to create an original character inspired by Universal’s classic cast of monsters, including Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Invisible Man. It runs from Feb. 11 through March 4 and hopes to discover visionary artists. ....

Ethan Hawke's gonna be the bad guy in Disney Plus's Moon Knight

Marvel continues to throw good talent after good at its upcoming
Moon Knight Disney+ series, with
THR reporting that Ethan Hawke has signed on to play the main villain in the Oscar Isaac-starring superhero show. There’s no word yet on who, exactly, Hawke will be playing, but given that Moon Knight’s personal nemesis is his old pal Bushman his employer who betrayed the future hero back during his mercenary days that feels like a pretty safe bet. (That being said, Moon Knight also sometimes beefs with Dracula, so, hey, fingers crossed for that.)

Hawke joins a cast that includes, obviously, Isaac, and also the just-cast May Calamawy.
