The Tennessee Department of Education on Wednesday announced the spending strategy for the state’s portion of the federal COVID-19 relief and economic stimulus funding, totaling almost $4.2 billion statewide, to benefit K-12 students and schools in Tennessee. 
Over the course of the last year, the U.S. Congress responded to the global COVID-19 health pandemic by passing several pieces of legislation to send an historic influx of federal funding to states. Between four major sources of federal relief and stimulus funding, Tennessee will benefit from almost $4.2 billion for K-12 education specifically, to be spent between spring 2020 and fall 2024. ....

Tennessee Dept. of Education releases plans for $4.2 billion in COVID relief funding

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Department of Education has announced plans for the state’s nearly $4.2 billion in federal COVID-19 relief and stimulus funds, according to a news release.
The department of education also plans to develop more grant opportunities and resources for school districts, teachers, students and families across the state.
The funding is expected to be used for the following:
$120.7 million for the Tennessee Literacy Success Act and Reading 360
$170.5 million for the Tennessee Learning Loss and Student Acceleration Act
$35 million to support math textbook adoptions across the state for the 2022-2023 school year.
$32 million for teaching and learning online resources and district improvements ....

Tennessee unveils plan to spend $4.2B in federal COVID-19 education relief


(The Center Square) – Tennessee is set to receive nearly $4.2 billion in taxpayer-supported federal COVID-19 relief to help schools, and the Tennessee Department of Education announced Wednesday how that money will be spent.
The largest spending will go toward two programs: the Tennessee Literacy Success Act and Reading 360, which will receive $120.7 million, and the Tennessee Learning Loss and Student Acceleration Act, which will get $170.5 million.
The latter focuses on summer remediation camps in 2021 and 2022 across the state with a focus on opportunities for students from lower-income homes and those with disabilities who are more likely to have fallen behind during school shutdowns. ....
