Dennis keeps off-road access at Crowe's Pasture despite erosion, flood

DENNIS The beach at Crowes Pasture will remain open to off-road vehicles, despite a recommendation from the Dennis Beach Management Advisory Committee based on concerns about erosion and flooding.
The Select Board voted 4-1 at the May 18 meeting to keep access to the beach at Crowes Pasture open for recreational vehicles. The only dissenting vote came from Select Board member Sheryl McMahon, who is vice-chair of the beach advisory committee.
Select Board member and licensing chair Chris Lambton explained his position, citing great memories at Crowes Pasture and the fact that the people of Dennis enjoy the beach.
“I am all for keeping it open no matter what the cost,” Lambton said. “One of the things we do for the town is we allow people to enjoy the natural beauty that we have, and part of that is allowing them to go out to Crowes.”  ....

Ken Jenks remembered as 'more than a teacher by Dennis-Yarmouth officials, students

Long before Jeni Landers became chairperson of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee, she was a student in Kenneth Jenks history class.
Memories of Jenks compassion and creativity have stayed with her over the course of 33 years. Since joining the school committee, her appreciation for her former teacher only grew, she said.
“He was completely committed to public education, she said. It’s pretty ironic that Ken spent the last year literally making sure that everybody was safe from COVID, from managing finances to sending kids back to school safely, touring buildings and ordering supplies.”
Jenks, the assistant superintendent for administration and business services of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District, died Friday, just one week after he had heart surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 62. ....

Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee addresses member's comments, absences

Cape Cod Times
SOUTH YARMOUTH The continued absence of a Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee member in the face of criticism over a controversial Facebook post from November led one member to suggest Monday that he resign.
Joe Glynn failed to appear at the regional committee s Monday night meeting, marking the second consecutive meeting in which he failed to appear either in person or via Zoom.
Plenty of people wanted Glynn to answer for a Nov. 7 Facebook post that some saw as racist.
“Baker Curfew Question, the post read. If an African American gets pulled over at 10:05 pm by a white Police Officer after curfew is it racist? Do they have to let him go if he is a Democratic Socialist? Asking for a friend from Massachusetts.” ....
