Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform

The newly formed Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform (ILIR) is galvanizing support for the undocumented as it plans an all-out effort on the critical issue of immigration reform.
The lobby group created by The Irish Voice newspaper will advocate on behalf of the estimated twenty to thirty thousand undocumented Irish living in the U.S.
“We don’t want to be in the shadows,” said Malcolm, an undocumented immigrant from Northern Ireland, who was one of the many who turned up for the inaugural meeting of the lobby, which was held at the Affinia Hotel, in Manhattan on December 9. ....

After 50 years, Galway native's goodbye to his beloved NY Mets

Thomas Lydon, 90, has worked for the New York Mets for 50 years, and the Co. Galway native would still be with the team were it not for Covid-19. As a new Major League Baseball season begins, he speaks to Debbie McGoldrick about his life in America and his sadness over leaving his beloved Mets.
Covid-19 didn’t totally elude Thomas Lydon, 90 years young, an Irish New Yorker courtesy of Galway City and a die-hard New York Mets fan who for 50 years lived the dream of working for his favorite team.
Thankfully, the virus didn’t strike Lydon physically. He is as fit as a fiddle for his age, enjoys daily long walks with his equally healthy wife Regina, and looks forward to the day when he can return to Ireland for a visit – a planned trip home on March 16, 2020, was canceled just as the coronavirus was becoming a new, unwelcome reality in our lives. ....
