Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) editorial content head Karol Ilagan has been named to the Pulitzer Center’s Rainforest Investigations Network (RIN), a multinational collaboration among investigative journalists to tackle pressing stories in the world’s main tropical rainforest regions.
“The RIN fellowship will give these journalists the opportunity to work full time on rainforest issues, each pursuing their own projects but looking for synergies with the work of other Fellows, sharing resources, and learning from each other,” the Pulitzer Center’s announcement re ....

City People Magazine, Nigeria’s leading celebrity journal has announced plans to commemorate its 25th year anniversary this year with various programs and activities.
Citypeople which is the oldest surviving celebrity magazine in Nigeria was founded in November 1996 by a veteran Journalist, Seye Kehinde, who rose to become the Editor of Tempo Magazine in his early 30s. Citypeople which was established 25 years ago to mirror the lifestyles of Celebrities in Nigeria has over the years grown to become the undisputed leader in the soft-sell sector.

JAKARTA - In September, after 19 years as a journalist with the national daily, Tempo, first as a reporter and then from 2010 as an editor on the international desk, Ms Maria Hasugian got a message from the paper s human resource department via WhatsApp warning of job cuts.
Tempo would go on to cut a 10th of its 525 staff, including Ms Maria and seven editors and reporters.

Sanwo-Olu Mourns Sarkin Hausawa Of Lagos


 
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed sadness over the sudden death of the Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos, Muhammadu Sani Kabir, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 57.
Governor Sanwo-Olu in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile on Monday, described Kabir’s death as a great loss to the Arewa community and traditional institution in Lagos State.
Late Kabir died on Thursday, December 24, and was buried according to Islamic rites on Friday, December 25 at the Arewa Muslim Cemetery at Jafojo in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged family, friends and associates of the deceased as well as the entire Arewa community, whose interests the late Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos represented to work towards immortalizing the deceased. ....
