The Dispatch Members of the Davidson County Civitan Club will deliver 55 plush toys to Ronald McDonald House to be distributed to families using the facility. The club gathered the gifts for an 18th consecutive year and for a third year chose the Winston-Salem facility to receive the stuffed animals to help aid in the comfort of their younger guests. The Thomasville Civitan Club contributed to the collection of plush toys. The club Christmas party was held virtually on Dec. 8 with President Felicia Hamby presiding. Host for the meeting was Clifton Murphy of Welcome who is a Civitan district area director. ....
Dr. Iona Agneta Jackson was born in the beautiful Caribbean island of Anguilla on Oct. 9, 1940. Iona passed on to her peaceful rest on Dec. 3. She was the second of seven children to the late Charles Harvey Hodge and Beatrice Adothia Fleming Hodge. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, Franklin E Jackson, Sr.; brother, Osward Hodge; and sisters, Lilian Kathleen Flaharty and Clorisia Nibbs. She was survived by her six children, Derry Jackson, Carol Cress, Franklin Jackson Jr., Sheryl Thompson, Sherna Martin and Dr. Shernette Kydd. At an early age, Iona professed her faith in Christ and lived every day in full commitment to her Lord and Savior. It was her desire to reflect and reveal Christ to the world. Officials at EdenHill Communities in New Braunfels say they have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases among its residents in recent days, mirroring rising cases across the county. According to a statement from the community, EdenHill earlier this week notified designated family members regarding positive COVID-19 cases on its campus. âIndividuals who have tested positive are in isolation and are being cared for by a dedicated team of professionals wearing full personal protective equipment,â the statement from Terry Jackson, director of independent living, and CEO Wendy Carpenter read. âWe are abiding by the recommendations from the Comal County Health Commissioner, the Texas State Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when caring for our residents to include routine testing of both residents and staff.â ....
