Again, Delta Asks FG to Return £4.2m Recovered Loot

The Delta State government yesterday restated its plea to the federal government to return to the state the Â£4.2 million first tranche recovered from the associates of a former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori.
The state was reacting to a confirmation yesterday by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), that the federal government was in receipt of the Â£4,214,017.66 from the United Kingdom (UK).
The recovered loot came after about two months the federal government and its UK counterpart announced that modalities have been perfected for the return of the funds to Nigeria. ....

Delta State Government on Tuesday reacted to receipt by the Nigerian government of the Â£4.2 million first tranche of the Ibori loot from the goverment of the United Kingdom.
The state government restated its earlier stand that since the returned money was illegally taken out of Delta’s Treasury, it should appropriately be returned to Delta State.
This is coming on the dissolution, on Tuesday, of the Delta State Executive Council (EXCO) with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa asking the Secretary to State Government (SSG), all civil commissioners and the governor’s aides to surrender all vital government documents and property to their respective permanent secretaries in the ministries, departments and agencies. ....

A N10 billion fundamental enforcement suit has been filed against the Delta State Government at a Federal High, Lagos over alleged the marginalization of Ndokwa/Ukwani land.
The applicants in the suit are the President, League of Ndokwa Professionals (LNP) Chief Tony Amechi and Legal Adviser, Evans Ufeli on behalf of the people of Ndokwa/Ukwani land of Delta State.
Delta State Governor, Delta State Executive Council, Delta State House of Assembly and the Attorney General of the state are respondents in the suit.
The applicants are seeking for the an order of the court for the enforcement of the fundamental rights of the people of Ndokwa/Ukwani nation of Delta State as entrenched in Chapter IV of the Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). ....

THE International lounge of the Asaba International Airport hosted prominent Deltans, top Government functionaries and investors Tuesday as the Airport was concessioned to a master concessionaire (FIDC-Menzies Consortium, now incorporated as Asaba Airport Company Limited) and sub-concessionaires of technical partners with a designated area of investment for 30 years by the State Government after five years of rigorous and painstaking exercise.
Among the sub-concessionaires is Air Peace airline which has the mandate of the anchor airline with the construction and operation of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the airport. Multiflight Cargo and Logistics will manage the cargo aspect and its development.
