Gloria Baker, et al. v. Raymond James & Associates Inc., et al., the Mississippi Supreme Court on March 4 reinstated a trial court ruling that Mississippi’s latent-injury discovery-rule exception to the catch-all, three-year limitations period did not apply where the lay plaintiffs, though inexperienced and unsophisticated investors, received monthly account statements showing “substantial losses” on their managed retirement investments. Bradley was part of the team that assisted Raymond James in this signal victory.
The plaintiffs filed suit in 2017, alleging, among other things, a negligence claim against their financial advisor and the advisor’s then-employer Morgan Keegan (now Raymond James). The advisor invested the plaintiffs’ retirement assets from 2002 to 2013. During those years, the plaintiffs received monthly account statements showing substantial losses. One of the things I most look forward to in the runup to Spring Training every year is the release of the Top 100 prospects lists. Many outlets release versions of this list including MLB.com, FanGraphs, Baseball America ($), Baseball Prospectus ($), ESPN ($), and The Athletic ($) (among many others).
I enjoy looking at the lists to learn the experts’ thinking about the Twins’ prospects. The write-ups and projections that accompany the numeric rankings make it easy to get excited and dream about those players making their way to Target Field in the (hopefully) not too distant future. A lot of the current Twins core namely, Max Kepler, José Berríos, Byron Buxton, and Miguel Sano is made of players who found themselves on these kinds of lists in the 2010s. ....

LA GRANGE, IL A La Grange trustee on Monday proposed choosing the second lowest bidder for a tower painting project because it is an Illinois company, bypassing the low bidder, an out-of-state firm. A union endorsed going that route.
After a debate, the trustees went with the lowest bidder, Seven Brothers Painting of Shelby Township, Mich.
All six bidders half of them from out of state turned in bids far lower than the engineer s estimate of $1.1 million. The bids ranged from $568,000 to $881,000. Wauconda-based Jetco was the second lowest bidder, about $25,000 above the low bid. The village s engineer considered both Seven Brothers and Jetco as qualified bidders. ....
