Two new faces elected to join Town Council

TWO new councillors have been elected to Malton Town Council.
Gill Boler and Ian Conlan will join the council following a by-election last Thursday after two vacancies arose on the council.
Gill stood as a Malton resident and Nursing Sister, while Ian Conlan as a Green Party.
The other candidates were Luke Campbell, Conservative Party; Sophie Legard, Conservative Party and David Lloyd-Williams, Community Candidate. The vacancies came about as a result of the resignation of Cllr Chris Turner and the death of Cllr Ed Jowitt.
Gill said: “Following my recent electionl I would like to thank the many residents who voted for me, and for the kind, supportive messages I have received. I am looking forward to working with the other council members on projects that continue to develop a safe, healthy town of which we can all be proud. ....

Since moving to Malton 21 years ago I’ve played an active role in the community as nurse manager of Derwent Practice for 15 years – and musical director of many local shows. I’ve enjoyed working with people residents of all ages to produce entertainment and to support the maintenance of our historic places. I would proactively support the conservation of our wonderful countryside. It would be a privilege for me to work with a team – passionate about the continual development of Malton and the infrastructure to support it – and that’s a challenge that I would relish. ....
