The Tite Inn has been bought by local brewery company Oxfordshire Inns Limited. They plan to extend the currently limited opening hours, improve the internal layout and equipment and add an outdoor cooking area. They will also introduce music and comedy events to the pub’s calendar. Their management team includes Jason Chipchase who is owner and CEO of Chadlington Brewery which has supplied the pub for many years. The 17th century village pub, which was derelict 10 years ago, has immaculate gardens and a chocolate-box setting. It won Camra’s North Oxfordshire Pub of the Year in 2005. It also became well known for hosting eccentric events such as Easter egg rolling (including a Dads category where contraptions such as rockets and trebuchets were used to launch eggs), very adult pantomimes, annual charity bike rides and The Great Brook Run, which The Tite still hosts annually. ....

Neighbours compete to roll their hard-boiled eggs along a road or down a hill and in the past egg rolling competition have become popular community events. In 2009 hundreds of people braved miserable weather to show off their prowess at an Easter egg-rolling competition. Up to 300 people gathered at Oxford’s Shotover Country Park to take part. Egg rolling events have also been held at the Earth Trust at Little Wittenham, where Wittenham Clumps can be found. ....
