Dublin resident and former two-term California assemblywoman Catharine Baker has been appointed to the state s Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).

Baker, a longtime attorney who developed a reputation for bipartisanship as a Republican in the State Assembly, will return the FPPC to full five-person membership. David Julius, PhD, a professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), has been elected a Trustee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), the largest private biomedical research institution in the United States. His appointment will begin on January 1, 2021.
