Things are taking off at Regina’s airport after a year of people being urged to avoid all unnecessary travel. “We have seen a surprising and really incredible rebound in the past couple of weeks,” said James Bogusz, the president and CEO of the Regina Airport Authority. “We’ve been trending here at the airport for most of the pandemic (at) around nine to 10 per cent (of pre-COVID passenger traffic for) an average. The last couple of weeks, we’ve been trending closer to 35 plus per cent. It’s been a huge difference. It actually feels like a busier airport now.” ....
Date Time Driving future of young people Cessnock City Council has partnered with Youth Express and RGH Driver Training to deliver professional driver training and mentoring to young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA). The training is aimed at breaking down potential barriers to employment. Transport issues and the lack of a driver’s licence are a primary obstacle to gaining employment for young people, particularly in regional areas. The Cessnock Youth Driver Training Program provides a pathway for local youth to achieve a driver’s licence. The program is expected to support more than 50 young residents to obtain their provisional licence. To date, the program has approved 48 applications for driving lessons. Teresa Hughes from Youth Express and Danielle O’Hara from RGH Driver Training have been instrumental in coordinating the delivery of 115 hours of driver training. ....
RESIDENTS have taken to the streets to protest against the building of 5G masts in their community. Between 30 and 40 people took to the streets of Altham West on Sunday May 16 to make their feelings known, with Council leader Miles Parkinson, deputy leader Paul Cox and Accrington North Councillor Lorraine Cox amongst them. They were organised by the recently formed Accrington Residents Anti-5G Committee which has said that they have been plagued by masts, built by IX Wireless, going up across their towns, in some cases right outside their homes, without their permission, Speaking on behalf of the group, Jo Read said: As you see a lot of us are elderly and many do not own a smart phone let alone a computer. ....
