LEWISTON – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Nancy Violette who passed away after a brief period of declining health at Central Maine Medical Center on July 4, 2021. Nancy had been a resident at Clover Healthcare in Auburn for the last year.
Nancy was born to Muriel and Lionel Violette on Sept. 6, 1950. Nancy had been a member of St. Patrick’s Parrish and was educated in Lewiston Maine. For a period of time, she was employed by Pathway’s Sheltered Workshop for adults with disabilities. Nancy had a gift for giving and receiving love. She was an exceptionally good hugger. To know her was to love her. ....

The United Way of Northeast Missouri has some new faces leading its fundraising drive for this year.
Bertha Thomas, President of the United Way of Northeast Missouri, announced Thursday that Chade Shorten will serve as the 2022 United Way Campaign Chair and Stephanie McGrew will be Assistant Champaign Chair.
Shorten is a 2018 graduate of Truman State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree who currently is Manager of The Dukum Inn and WrongDaddys night club in Kirksville. She is a member of the Noon Chapter of Rotary, a State Committeewoman for the 18th District of the Missouri Democratic Party, and Vice President of Adair County Democrats. ....

LOCAL COVID-19 VACCINATION DETAILS

(OLNEY/NEWTON) The Richland County TB & Health Office in Olney and the Jasper County Health Department in Newton are now working to develop plans to maximize the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccinations as the state moves to Phase 1B of the distribution next week. Both offices are asking the public to be patient with the process. Depending on when the vaccine arrives, the two offices will be scheduling clinics accordingly with priority given to certain categories of those on the Phase 1B list. Appointments will be required for both doses of COVID-19 vaccines and the limited vaccination tickets will be available online ONLY with advanced online appointment scheduling. Walk-in shots will not be offered. Be listening to WSEI-WIKK radios for updates from both offices in Newton and Olney and be watching the respective websites and Facebook pages for more details as they become available. ....
