Kuala Lumpur: A cook accepted his three-year jail sentence for possession of items related to the Daesh terrorist group with a wide grin.
High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah handed down the sentence on Mohd Firdaus Kamal Intdzam, 34, after the man, a cook with a hotel in Singapore, pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was charged with six counts of possessing items linked to the Daesh-terror group, which included two memory cards, a flag, four books and a handphone.

The offence was committed at the arrival hall of the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex, Sultan Iskandar Building, Johor Bharu, at 10.40 am on Aug 5 last year. ....

Johor hopes Covid-19 vaccination drives in S'pore and Malaysia will enable border to reopen


ISKANDAR PUTERI (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The Johor government is hoping that the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination programme in Malaysia and Singapore will lead to the reopening of the border between the two countries this year, said Johor Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
He said the state government had made the necessary preparations and was ready to receive travellers from Singapore.
This matter is under the purview of the federal government through the Foreign Ministry and Singaporean Government.
Discussions are still ongoing involving the safety and security of the people travelling between both countries.
We hope the vaccination programme carried out by the Malaysian and Singaporean governments will give hope for the reopening of our border this year, he said after visiting the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Gelang Patah on Monday (March 8). ....

Johor hopeful for border reopening with Covid-19 vaccine drive


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government is hoping that the ongoing vaccination in Malaysia and Singapore will lead to the reopening of the border between the two countries this year.
Johor tourism, youth and sports committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the state government has made the necessary preparations and is ready to receive travellers from the neighbouring country.
“This matter is under the purview of the Federal Government through the Foreign Ministry and the Singaporean government.
