Kuala Lumpur: A cook accepted his three-year jail sentence for possession of items related to the Daesh terrorist group with a wide grin.
High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah handed down the sentence on Mohd Firdaus Kamal Intdzam, 34, after the man, a cook with a hotel in Singapore, pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was charged with six counts of possessing items linked to the Daesh-terror group, which included two memory cards, a flag, four books and a handphone.

The offence was committed at the arrival hall of the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex, Sultan Iskandar Building, Johor Bharu, at 10.40 am on Aug 5 last year. ....

Perak, Johor ready for first phase immunisation

IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad will be among the first to get the Covid-19 vaccine in phase 1 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, along with 33,503 frontliners in the state.
State exco members would also be vaccinated in the first phase, said Perak health committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin.
“Perak is expected to receive some 79,560 doses of the vaccine. Forty-nine vaccination centres are prepared, including Stadium Indera Mulia, ” he said.
“Priority will be given to those in the red zone, followed by yellow and green, ” he added.
Registration for the public begins in March at government or private clinics, via MySejahtera or at www.vaksinCovid.gov.my. ....

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 21 Johor received a portion of the Covid-19 vaccine supply that arrived in the country today to be placed at four vaccine storage centres (VSC) in the state.
The supply, which is part of the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, arrived in Johor Bahru from Singapore via the Johor Causeway. ....

The three Maqis personnel had been remanded five days.
JOHOR BARU: Three assistant enforcement officers of the Malaysian Department of Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis) in Johor were ordered in remand for five days for alleged corrupt activities in connection with the issue on the meat cartel.
The remand order, from Tuesday until Jan 23, was issued by Johor Baru Court registrar Nur Fathiah Mohd Fedzir following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The three officers, aged between 40 and 55, were arrested at the state MACC headquarters at 7pm Monday when they were called to give their statements. ....
