WHITE HALL Running into her mother’s classroom at North Greene High School, senior Sarah McEvers couldn’t wait to share the news Thursday.
After checking her email, McEvers found she was selected as one of just 161 students from across the nation to be selected as a U.S. Presidential Scholar.
She is one of just three from Illinois.
Kathy Yao from Dulaney High School in Timonium and Avinash J. Thakkar from McDonough School in Owings Mills, represent two of five students chosen in the state of Maryland to being named in the 57th class of the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona announced on Thursday.
