PSC completes audit of National Grid's statewide operations | News


ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) recently approved an implementation plan for the Commission-adopted recommendations in the recently completed management and operations audit of three National Grid USA subsidiaries: Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, the Brooklyn Union Gas Company or KEDNY, and KeySpan Gas East Corporation or KEDLI.
Further, the Commission mandated that National Grid USA’s subsidiaries comply with the provisions of that implementation plan. The audit focused on construction program planning and operational efficiency. 
“Our audit closely examined the utilities’ readiness to deliver service for New Yorkers, response to New York’s clean-energy initiatives, the effectiveness of its gas safety processes and procedures, and how these companies plan for and manage information systems projects,” Commission Chair John B. ALBANY, New York, May 14 The New York State Public Service Commission issued the following news release on May 13, 2021:
The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) today announced the State s electric grid and its electric utilities are prepared for increased summer demand for electricity.
Further, the price for electricity paid by full-service residential customers on average is expected to be about the same as the last few years.
New York continues to be in a relatively low commodity price environment compared to where prices were several years ago, and that is expected to continue throughout the summer, said Commission Chair John B. Howard. While market energy prices are expected to be higher than last year, because of an expected increase in generator fuel costs as well as the changes in capacity prices and obligations, residential customers in certain regions may experience higher commodity bills this ....

ALBANY The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment (Siting Board) granted approval to High River Energy Center, LLC (High River) to build and operate a 90 megawatt (MW) solar farm in the Town of Florida, Montgomery County on Thursday.
The Siting Board’s decision follows a detailed review and robust public participation process to ensure that the solar farm meets or exceeds all siting requirements. This solar farm and other renewable energy projects currently under development as announced in Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s 2021 State of the State address are vital to meet the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act’s aggressive carbon reduction and clean energy targets to combat climate change. ....

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the New York State Public Service Commission approved a 93-mile 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line starting in Oneida County and extending to Albany County to enable greater flow of clean energy as part of the 2021 State of the State. The nearly $854M project, named the Marcy to New Scotland Upgrade Project, is designed to speed the flow of clean, reliable electricity to high-demand markets downstate. The initiative also increases transmission capacity to move power more efficiently in keeping with the goals of both the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth and Community Benefit Act to lower carbon emissions and combat climat ....
