Debt-laden power utility Eskom has declared a dispute with unions over pay increases, setting up talks for an independent meditation process at the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) SA’s statutory dispute-resolution body.
A date has not yet been set for the CCMA to hear the matter. The first meeting is categorised as conciliation and its purpose is to reach an agreement acceptable to both parties. 
If no agreement is reached, the commissioner will issue a certificate of non-resolution and the case may be referred to the labour court or to the CCMA for arbitration, where the commissioner will make a final and binding decision, called an arbitration award. ....

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) has on Wednesday postponed its strike at Rand Water to allow the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to arbitrate in the legal matter between workers and the employer.
This after the Labour Court dismissed an interdict by Rand Water against Samwu calling the picket illegal and unlawful. ....

The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) has postponed its strike at Rand Water pending a dispute resolution.
On Wednesday, Rand Water applied for an urgent interdict at the Labour Court in Johannesburg in an effort to prevent the strike from going ahead. 
 
 
We went to court this morning and the court wanted to know why RandWater didn t engage Samwu before they unilaterally decided to withdraw incentive bonuses to workers. We are vindicated because Rand Water was told to reverse those changes, says the union’s Bafana Zungu
 
Zungu says the postponement will allow the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to intervene in the matter.  ....
