CMCSS announces principal and assistant principal appointments

Melanie Steinlage, principal of West Creek Elementary Principal
Steinlage replaces Lynne Rains, who is transitioning to Barkers Mill Elementary as principal.
Steinlage has served as assistant principal at Byrns Darden Elementary School since 2018. Previously, she has served as an academic coach at Byrns Darden and Hazelwood elementary schools and a teacher at Hazelwood Elementary. During her tenure with CMCSS, which dates back to 2010, Steinlage has also served as a site-based induction specialist and on several school and district-level committees.
She earned her M.S. in Educational Leadership K-12 from the University of Tennessee Martin and her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Steinlage completed the McREL Balanced Leadership Training for Administrators, as well as several Kagan Professional Development workshops. ....

Public input requested for English Language Arts and Science performance standards – Sheridan Media

According To a news release from the Wyoming Department of Education, the 2012 Wyoming English Language Arts Content and Performance Standards are up for review. The Wyoming Department of Education is collecting public input for the committee’s consideration during its review.
To give public input on ELA Standards, the DOE asks the public to review the 2012 Wyoming ELA Content & Performance Standards found here.
The public can provide input through any of the following options:
Complete the Public Input Survey by 11:59 p.m. MST on March 26, 2021.

Wyoming schools seek input on updates to science and language arts standards

CASPER, Wyo The Wyoming Department of Education is collecting input for updates to its content and performance standards for language arts and sciences.
“Content Standards are what students should know and be able to do, and Performance Standards specify the degree of understanding,” WDE said.
“Districts are expected to assess students on Performance Standards through the District Assessment System.”

Education official: Concerns about new social studies standards are 'white supremacy'

alphanews.com, Minnesota is in the process of revising those standards to cover “LGBT issues, race, and climate change,” while excising those for “World War I and World War II, the American Revolution, and the Civil War.”
The campaign known as Raise Our Standards sent a letter, signed by over 5,000 individuals, to the state’s Standards Review Committee expressing misgivings over the changes.
For example, the letter requests that benchmarks regarding World War I, World War II and the Holocaust be kept, along with “the rise and effects of communism and socialism, the American Revolution and the Civil War.” ....
