The capital s Pride Festival is not only a chance to celebrate the rainbow community but to inspire, says a Wellington musical comedian.
Queer performer Maxwell Apse, best known for the love song they wrote for Ashley Bloomfield over lockdown, will be performing in their first Wellington Pride Festival this month.
The 27-year-old musician identifies as bisexual, and came out as transgender and non-binary last year.
Having been personally inspired by the likes of Wellington drag king Hugo Grrrl, Apse said it was important for young people in the community to have proud queer performers to look up to. ....

IPL 2021 likely to start from April 9; Final on May 30: Report

The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to be played from April 9 to May 30 subject to the approval of the Governing Council (GC). In another development, while the date of the all-important GC meeting to decide on the venues for the 14th edition of the league is yet to be finalised, it is most likely to be held next week.
Speaking to ANI, a GC member on condition of anonymity said while the final approval will be given in the GC meeting, the league is expected to start on April 9 and a call on the venues will be taken next week. ....

New Delhi [India], March 6 (ANI): Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Saturday once again echoed the sentiments that Tokyo Olympics-bound athletes will be given priority for the coronavirus vaccine followed by other athletes.
We will take care of our elite athletes thereafter all the junior athletes will be taken care of. But the focus is on Tokyo Olympics-bound athletes, they will be given priority because safety is utmost important. If any player gets infected at this point in time it will really spoil their chances of competing in the Olympics because if you are infected then you have to follow the quarantine and take medication then your dream is over so that s why the athletes welfare is our priority, Rijiju told ANI. ....
