Conn. Has Lowest Increase in COVID-19 Cases in 6 Months: Governor


Net hospitalizations are down by four at 403. That s the lowest number seen in more than a month.
Four more virus-related deaths have been reported. The death toll is now at 8,084, state officials said.
Starting Saturday, some COVID-19 restrictions across Connecticut will be lifted. This includes moving the business curfew back to 12 a.m. and lifting outdoor restrictions. There will be no table size limit and alcohol without food will be allowed.

CONNECTICUT Demand for coronavirus vaccine is down about 50 percent in Connecticut compared to two weeks ago, but vaccines are starting to make a big difference in viral transmission in the state, Gov. Ned Lamont said.
The state reported 486 cases Thursday and a positive test rate of 1.34 percent, which was the lowest daily rate in six months. Coronavirus hospitalizations dropped to 403 currently hospitalized and are poised to drop below 400 for the first time in more than a month.
I like to think that this is a trend that s going to be with us for a long time, Lamont said at a news conference. ....

CONNECTICUT Some restaurants and bars around the state will offer a free drink to people who have received a coronavirus vaccine.
Participating restaurants are offering one free alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink to customers who show their vaccine card between May 19 and 31. A food purchase is required, and restaurants will determine what qualifies as a free drink.
Eventually, thousands of restaurants and bars are expected to join the promotion, Gov. Ned Lamont said at a news conference Monday. Restaurants are picking up the tab for the free drink, and the state is helping with promotion. ....

CT Hits 2 Important Coronavirus Vaccine Milestones

CONNECTICUT Connecticut hit two important coronavirus vaccine milestones recently: 60 percent of people 16 and older have received at least one dose and more than half of all adults are fully vaccinated.
The milestone announcement came on the one-year anniversary of Connecticut s peak coronavirus hospitalization date; there were 1,972 coronavirus hospitalizations on April 22, 2020, compared to 515 a year later.
Nearly nine out of every 10 residents 65 and older has received at least one vaccine dose as of Thursday, which beat the state s most optimistic projections, Gov. Ned Lamont said.
