Taunton woman, 83, seriously injured in head-on crash in Raynham


The head-on crash occurred about 4 p.m. Friday in the area of 240 Broadway, near Market Basket.
Police Chief James Donovan and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita said in a statement that first responders found the Taunton woman suffering from serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to the Walmart parking lot on Route 138, where she was then flown by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 31-year-old Fall River woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the chiefs said. She was taken by ambulance to Morton Hospital in Taunton. ....

Taunton motorcyclist critically injured in Raynham Route 44 collision


The crash occurred about 7:20 p.m. in the area of 300 New State Highway (Route 44).
Upon arrival, first responders found the operator of the Honda motorcycle, a 32-year-old Taunton man, unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway, Raynham Police Chief James Donovan and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita wrote in a joint statement.
The motorcyclist, whose identity wasn t immediately released, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to a nearby landing zone at the Johnson & Johnson Institute on Paramount Drive, then flown by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
Officials didn t have an update on the man s condition as of late Friday morning. ....

Raynham police charge Middleboro man with possessing stolen gun


RAYNHAM  A Middleboro man accused of illegally possessing a gun stolen from California is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Police say Robert Perry, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, illegal possession of ammunition, receiving stolen property, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
An officer on routine patrol on Route 44 came upon a white Toyota Corolla sedan about 10:30 a.m. that came up with an expired registration in the Registry of Motor Vehicles database, police said.
The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and police say he identified the driver as Perry, who had two female passengers, including one of whom the car belonged to and who Perry was driving home. ....

Woman robs store with needle she claimed to be infected with AIDS, police say

A Massachusetts woman who allegedly brandished a needle that she claimed was infected with AIDS as she robbed a convenience store Monday has been arrested, according to police.
Raynham Police responded to the scene at the Seasons Corner Market shortly after 6 p.m. and were told the woman left with a “quantity of cash” after robbing the store at needle-point, according to a statement from the department.
After getting the suspect’s license plate information, the officers alerted local communities to be on the lookout, and State Police said the same vehicle was already wanted in connection with a similar offense. ....
