Bear Attack Leaves Alaska Man With Crushed Jaw, Punctured Scalp On 5/20/21 at 10:49 AM EDT A man suffered horrific head injuries including a crushed jaw and punctured scalp after being attacked by a brown bear while out surveying land in rural Alaska. Allen Minish had been inputting data to his GPS during a real estate surveying trip near Gulkana, around 190 miles northeast of Anchorage, when he noticed the animal standing just 30 feet away. The 61-year-old, from the village of Chitna, tried to hide behind spruce trees but the bear charged towards him. He brandished the pointed end of his surveying pole but the bear simply knocked it aside. ....

Grizzly Bear That Attacked Man Near Yellowstone Chomped Up Victim s Hand On 4/21/21 at 7:39 AM EDT The father of a 40-year-old man who died after being severely mauled by a grizzly bear in southern Montana has revealed details of the fatal attack. West Yellowstone resident Carl Mock was attacked by the bear on Thursday near Baker s Hole Campground, which is located around three miles north of the town. His father Chuck Mock told The Billings Gazette of how his son s dominant left hand was chomped up by the bear as he tried to protect his neck and head.
