Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined for not wearing a face mask at a meeting on Monday under new coronavirus restrictions amid a new wave of infections.
Prayuth was among the first to be punished under a set of measures imposed on Monday that include a fine of up to 20,000 baht (Rs 47,610) for those who fail to wear masks in public. He was fined 6,000 baht (Rs 14000), the DPA news agency reported. ....

ASEAN urges Myanmar's military chief to cease violence

Naypyitaw: Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders have urged the head of Myanmar`s military chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who took power in a coup on February 1, to end the violent crackdown in the country.
According to Nikkei Asia, during the summit, the leaders and foreign ministers from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations had reached a consensus on five points.
This includes: there shall be an immediate cessation of violence and restraint by all parties; all parties shall commence constructive dialogue toward a peaceful solution in the interests of the people ; a special envoy of the ASEAN chair shall mediate the dialogue; ASEAN shall provide humanitarian assistance, and the special envoy and delegation shall visit Myanmar to meet ....

BANGKOK (AFP) – Thailand’s prime minister was fined for not wearing a mask yesterday after new COVID-19 restrictions came into force to try to halt the country’s spiralling outbreak.
Wearing masks is now compulsory in public spaces in 49 provinces and the capital, Bangkok – where the latest outbreak has been traced back to a nightlife district.
Some locations are backing it up with a THB20,000 (USD640) fine.
After a picture of a maskless Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha attending a meeting emerged on social media yesterday, the Bangkok governor said the premier had been fined THB6,000 (USD190).

Bangkok, April 26 : Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined for not wearing a face mask at a meeting on Monday under new coronavirus restrictions amid a new wave of infections.
Prayuth was among the first to be punished under a set of measures imposed on Monday that include a fine of up to 20,000 baht ($636) for those who fail to wear masks in public. He was fined 6,000 baht ($190), the dpa news agency reported.
Thai authorities introduced the measures to curb a new wave of coronavirus cases spurred by a more contagious variant first discovered in Britain. ....
