How did we get here and how do we stop the NJDOT from wasting our tax dollar on this boondoggle? We may have found the source of the controversy over the I-80Rockfall Project. We also found that we are not alone, as a similar pattern appears with other rockfall projects in Hunterdon County. They seem to be getting twisted up trying to justify the unjustifiable, explain the inexplicable and fix the unfixable. It appears NJDOT may have violated their own policy and procedures related to scope development, community involvement and the limited scope provision. The only solution is for these projects to start over! ....
New Jersey Herald KNOWLTON The riverside, eastbound lane of Route 80 through the Delaware Water Gap will be closed weekdays for retaining wall work for the next two months, said the state Department of Transportation. The retaining wall was built to hold the fill on which the four-lane highway was built in the late 1950s. There is a complex of drains under the highway to direct water running off the side of Mount Tammany, under the highway and into the Delaware River, just a few feet from the base of the wall. The lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays by the contractor, IEW Construction Inc., between mileposts 1.0 and 1.4, an area known as the S-curves, the DOT said. ....
