BREAKING: Kano confirms 3 deaths, 284 infections from strange disease

Commissioner for Health, Aminu Ibrahim-Tsanyawa, spoke to reporters at a press conference.
The medical doctor said the infected persons had been admitted to 25 health facilities.
Ibrahim-Tsanyawa noted that the disease, first recorded on March 10, was suspected to be caused by consumption of contaminated flavour and a brand of expired instant drink products.
He said affected persons were identified in 13 local government areas; 101 of them had been discharged, with 183 currently on admission.
The affected LGAs are Dala Gwale, Kano Municipal, Fage, Ungogo, Kumbotso, Tarauni, Bunkure, Rano, Dawakinjudu, Dawakin Tofa, Gwarzo and Danbatta.
Ibrahim-Tsanyawa disclosed that the index case, a six-year-old girl developed abdominal pain, vomiting, jaundice and urinating blood (hematuria) after drinking water bought from a vendor. ....

Friends of Osinbajo Empowers Small Scale Business Owners in Nasarawa

A group, Friends of Osinbajo, in commemoration of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s 64th birthday, has launched a one-off cash grant of N100,000 to 50 small scale business owners in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Speaking during the disbursement of the funds to the beneficiaries on Monday, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Mohammad (rtd), offered special prayers for the longevity of the vice-president so that Nigeria would continue to tap from his enormous wealth of experience.
The Emir, who in December 2020 conferred the title of ‘Madagun Jihar Nasarawa’, meaning the ‘Leader and Captain’ on the vice-president, described him as a humane, humble and a detribalised Nigerian and prayed for the sustenance of unity and peaceful coexistence among the diverse groups in Nigeria. ....

Kano commission raids fuel stations to halt hoarding

Operatives of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday raided some major filling stations within the metropolis suspected to be hoarding petrol in order to create artificial scarcity.
The Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr Muhuyi Gado, who led the team of the operations department of the anti-graft agency and other relevant stakeholders during the raid, said the move had become imperative following series of complaints by the members of the public.

Hisbah nabs two men for sending pornographic materials to Kano housewife

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two men aged 20 and 21 for allegedly sending pornographic materials to a housewife in Kano.
The board’s Public Relations Officer, Lawan Ibrahim, told
PUNCH Metro in Kano on Tuesday that the suspects were arrested after the woman lodged a complaint with the board.
Ibrahim stated, “The suspects opened a WhatsApp group, which they used in sending pornographic materials to women, irrespective of their marital statuses.
“However, luck ran out on the suspects when one of the married women informed the board’s officials that she received pornographic materials on her phone. ....
