Monrovia – At least 15 Liberian journalists representing electronic and print media houses have converged in Monrovia to undergo a five-month mentoring program aimed at combating COVID-19 related misinformation and other forms of human rights violations in the country, especially during the course of the fight against the pandemic.
The initiative is under the auspices of the “Mobilizing Media to Fighting COVID-19 (MMFC) project” initiated by Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), a Canada-based charity organization. ....

Credible information reaching the Daily Observer newspaper has it that the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is conducting an investigation into the decision of releasing from the custody of the security agency in the Republic of France one of the two Czech Republic nationals, Karel Sochor, wanted for prosecution in Liberia.  Sochor is the former Consul General of Czech Republic to Liberia.
The French authorities accordingly took the decision to release Sochor after he presented a copy of a police clearance dated August 4,2020, believed to have been issued to him by the Interpol section of the Liberian National Police (LNP), clearing him of all criminal offenses while residing in Liberia. ....

Just in February Kokulo S. Borvor was forced to resign as Comptroller-General of the Ministry of Justice following an investigative report by the 
Daily Observer, titled, “Justice Ministry Employs Expelled AMEU Student as Comptroller,” Mr. Kokulo finally resurfaced in full academic regalia (cap and gown), as a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) Class of 2021.

Daily Observer shows that Mr. Borvor was allegedly expelled from the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU), and he went on to present a faked academic credential to a number of employers including the Justice Ministry, claiming to have graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from that university in 2017. ....

'Gov't Should Not Be Complacent about Jabateh's Threat'

Days after Mike Jabateh was invited by authorities of the Liberian National Police ( LNP) over his public statement, threatening to would kill the Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia, Francis Korkpor, for which there is no clear decision from the police, a senior lawyer of Supreme Court, Counselor Jonathan T. Masssquoi, is urging the Government to take the threat very serious, and not to be complacent about it.
Cllr. Massaquoi, in an interview with the Daily Observer Newspaper on Wednesday, April 28, said Jabateh’s threatening statements against Chief Justice Francis Korkpor should not be overlooked, because it has the propensity to drive away investors and undermine the country fragile peace. ....
