She played viola in the South Bend Symphony, graduated from Mishawaka High School, and worked at a clothing boutique. She realized she wanted more out of life than hanging out with friends, going to dances and having fun on the beach. She obtained her private pilot license at the age of eighteen and received a scholarship to The Art Institute of Chicago. After moving to Chicago to attend the Art Institute, she stayed with a family and worked to support herself. Her education was interrupted for a brief period of time to care for her mother. ....
  Speed was the probable cause of a fatal accident in the early hours of March 16 on State Road 76.    New Mexico State Police Officer Jarod Escareno was dispatched to the accident. He arrived at 5:18 a.m. and found John Dickason, 43, Truchas propped up in a pine tree quite a distance from the road.    Escarenoâs lapel video indicates volunteer firefighters came upon the accident after they had fought a fire north of Truchas at about 3 a.m.    Escareno determined from the skid marks and pavement gouges that Dickason was traveling north in his Ford pickup and while negotiating a curve at a high rate of speed left the road. ....

Martinez, also of Truchas, was acquitted of witness tampering. Because of reports of threats by SNM members, court security and U.S. marshals were on high alert to protect witnesses, prosecutors, the judge and others during the two-week trial in federal court in Albuquerque. Three prosecution witnesses, including Martinez’s ex-wife, were arrested, jailed and brought to court in handcuffs after they failed to show up to testify after being subpoenaed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Mexico. Martinez, aka Mono, is a five-time felon in state court and the 10th SNM member to be convicted at trial under the federal Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering law. The prosecution stemmed from an ongoing six-year FBI investigation aimed at dismantling the 41-year-old SNM criminal enterprise that operates inside and outside prisons. ....
