The appointment of 40 year old Abdulrasheed Bawa by President Muhammadu Buhari as the head of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), no doubt ushers in a new dawn at the anti graft agency that has over the years been riddled with leadership crisis since its establishment many years ago during the second term of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination of the youthful and very thorough security operative to replace the embattled and suspended former chairman, Ibrahim Magu, will obviously set a new pace for the commission, what with Bawa’s track record of inimitable achievement as a ground breaker.
Former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has reacted to the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the new Chairman of the commission.
Tosin Ajaomo, the lawyer to Magu, said the appointment made by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday came as a shock.
Buhari had yesterday asked the Senate to confirm Bawa as substantive EFCC Chairman.
But Ajaomo told Channels Television that justice has not been served in the allegations of corruption levelled against his client, Magu.
“Sincerely, I need to tell you that this appointment came to me as a shock. There is still an unfinished assignment that was pending,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu’s statement on Tuesday was signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile.
The Governor described the First Lady as a courageous, amiable, and strong pillar of support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sanwo-Olu said Aisha had touched the lives of millions of Nigerians, especially women and children, since 2015.
”As an advocate of women’s and children rights, your campaign for young girls to get primary and secondary school education before getting married has yielded positive results in the country,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor said Aisha’s ‘Future Assured’ has continued advocacy work for the health and well-being of women and children through community mobilisation and health promotion.
