Netflix Selects Recipients for U.K. Doc Talent Fund

Netflix has revealed the ten aspiring filmmaking teams from across the U.K. that it will fund as part of its inaugural Documentary Talent Fund.
The ten filmmakers will receive up to £40,000 in financing to create their own documentary short film between 8- to 12-minutes long, answering the brief: “Britain’s Not Boring And Here’s a Story.” A shortlist of 21 filmmaking teams were invited to pitch to Netflix, and a judging panel selected the ten winners.

The 10 aspiring filmmaking teams from the United Kingdom who will receive funding through Netflix’s inaugural Documentary Talent Fund have been named by the streaming service.
On Thursday (May 27), Netflix announced the cohort who will each receive up to £40,000 (US$56,757) in financing to create their own documentary short film between eight and 12 minutes long. Each short must, in some way, respond to the prompt “Britain’s not boring and here’s a story.” ....

Global streamer Netflix has named the 10 aspiring filmmakers from around the UK who have won funding as part of its inaugural Documentary Talent Fund.

The creatives will receive up to £40,000 (US$56,000) in financing to create their own documentary short film of between eight and 12 minutes long to the brief Britain’s Not Boring and Here’s a Story.
The winners, who were selected by a judging panel including SB.TV founder Jamal Edwards, director of original documentaries commissioning at Netflix Kate Townsend and Little By Little Films founder Lindsey Dryden.
