WILMINGTON â A new grant will be used to boost community efforts already underway to respond to the opioid crisis with a thoughtful approach.
Deerfield Valley Community Partnership received about $21,000 in Linkage to Care Enhancement Funding through the Vermont Department of Health Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs. The money is intended to support ongoing efforts that address overdoses through connections to evidence-based treatment and services for individuals at risk for overdose.
Locally, that means the funding will go to Voices of Hope.
âThey have this incredible group of volunteers,â said Cindy Hayford, DVCP coordinator. âBut you get to a point where youâve got to have staff. This sets that foundation.â ....

WILMINGTON â Wilmington Works secured a grant to turn the field and trails behind the Old School Community into a winter wonderland for snowshoe users and children.
âWe jumped on it,â said Meg Staloff, coordinator for the downtown organization, âbecause during the pandemic, itâs really important for people to get out and exercise, and itâs much more difficult in Wilmington.â
Staloff described the local landscape being âhillyâ and challenging for those not inclined to hiking in the mountains. The project site is flat and more ideal for snowshoe beginners.
Wilmington Works was one of three Vermont groups to receive $3,000 in grants from AARP Vermont for Winter Placemaking Demonstration Projects. The program focuses on âcreating public spaces and streets that are safe and accessible for everyone,â and âaims to help communities build social capital that can ....
