DEERFIELD, IL The West Deerfield Township recently joined a small number of communities across Illinois and the United States recognized as being a Dementia Friendly Community. The distinction by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging has only recognized 18 such communities in Illinois and 300 in the entire country, according to a news release.
The goal of a dementia-friendly community is to create a better quality of life for people living with dementia and their families by decreasing stigma, increasing opportunities for meaningful social interaction, and offering support in addressing the changing needs of people living with dementia.

I am running for the Deerfield Public School District Board because our school system has been in transition even before the Covid-19 pandemic. This past year has been difficult for everyone in our community, and I want to help bridge all the valid differences and move our district forward.
