Max Cavalera: "Go Ahead And Die saved my sanity"

Max Cavalera says the debut album by his new band Go Ahead And Die stopped him losing his mind over the last 12 month. “Everybody was going crazy because of the pandemic,” he says. “There was a black cloud around, and nobody had anything to do. So making this record, I had a reason to get out of bed and do something with my life. It saved my sanity.”There’s another reason it means a lot to him. It marks the first time the current Soulfly/former Sepultura frontman teamed up with his son, Igor Amadeus Cavalera. “I always had a great metal connection with Igor since he was little,“ says Max. “‘I showed him a lot of stuff from my era, like Celtic Frost and Discharge, and he’s showed me some newer stuff like Full Of Hell and Genocide Pact.”The self-titled album wears its love of 80s underground metal, crust-punk and grindcore on its unwashed sleeve, right down to enlistin ....

Rave-pop iconoclasts the KLF have released their greatest hits on to streaming services and YouTube for the first time, and have hinted at further music to follow later this year.
An eight-track collection entitled Solid State Logik 1 has been released today, including 1988 No 1 novelty single Doctorin’ the Tardis, 1991 UK No 1 dance anthem 3am Eternal, and the Top 5 hits Last Train to Trancentral and America: What Time is Love? also released that year.
Also included are It’s Grim Up North, their earlier hit version of What Time is Love, Tammy Wynette collaboration Justified & Ancient, and the studio version of the hardcore punk take on 3am Eternal that they infamously performed at the Brit awards with the band Extreme Noise Terror in 1992. ....

The KLF have added a number of tracks from their back catalogue to streaming services for the very first time.
The British electronic duo (made up of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty), who scored a series of global hits in the late 80s and early 90s, famously walked away from the music industry in 1992.
Their departure from the business followed an appearance at that year’s BRIT Awards, during which they fired machine gun blanks into the audience and then dumped a dead sheep at the aftershow party. With their exit, they discontinued their entire discography. ....
