Finance meeting reviews draft-law on services

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has a strong commitment to consolidate and continue with Public Financial Management (PFM) reforms in the province.
According to an official handout, these reforms include formulation of an overarching legal framework in the form of PFM Law with an objective to ensure fiscal discipline, improve financial sustainability, enhance efficiency for better service delivery, bring transparency and strengthen accountability in the PFM systems of the province.
The Sub National Governance (SNG) Programme is providing technical support to the Finance Department in the formulation of the draft PFM Law, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority Act and Tax on Services Act. A deliberation session on the draft PFM Law, developed by the Finance Department with the technical support of SNG was chaired by Minister for Finance and Health Taimur Salim Khan Jhagra. ....

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakht-unkhwa Social Welfare Department, collaboration with Sub-National Governance (SNG) Program, organised a training session on Social Protection, which brought together senior management and field officers of the department.
Secretary Social Welfare Manzoor Ahmad said Social Protection is the need of time where the staff of the department needs awareness on it.
The training session, led by SNG advisor Social Protection Shahid Farooq, focused on strengthening participants’ knowledge on social protection, notably on the development of a comprehensive social protection policy and other social protection reforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants had an opportunity to take advantage of SNG’s expertise on social protection for future planning at the department. ....

LAHORE:
The department, in collaboration with the British government’s Department for International Development (DFID), has decided to take innovative measures under the Sub-national Governance programme (SNG2).
Under the ‘Track & Trace’ project of the provincial taxation department, satellite imagery will be utilised to trace hidden properties and vacant plots.
The system will trace and stop vehicles with outstanding token taxes at the entrances and exits of Lahore with the help of modern scanning machines, which were introduced under the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. ....
