Banned driver Shaun Crowe deliberately reversed into police vehicle
A BANNED driver deliberately reversed into a police vehicle during a chase just ten days after receiving a suspended prison sentence.
Durham Crown Court heard that Shaun Christopher Crowe later admitted having a ten-year-old child on a booster seat in the defective car during the pursuit.
Crowe received an 18-week sentence, suspended for two years, plus a three-month driving ban, on July 2, 2020.
Shaun Dryden, prosecuting, said Crowe was driving a Ford Mondeo that came to police attention due to a loose offside wheel, in South Moor, Stanley, at 11.30am on July 12. ....

Controversial St John's College plan for 660 homes rejected


The application was amended twice last year to take account of comments from the county council and technical officers.
This resulted in a reduction of the homes from 700 to 660, on site sport provision, urban design principles, heritage impacts, together with additional supporting information about drainage, air quality and highways.
The principal of the development was supported in the Vale’s Local Plan Part 2 (LPP2).

However, the planning committee highlighted that the application had failed to address the major modifications required by the independent inspector of LPP2 relating to traffic congestion on the local road network and air quality problems in Marcham. ....
